THE Archbishop of the Anglican Church of Melanesia Most Reverend Leonard Dawea has this week announced the resignation of the Diocesan Bishop of Banks and Torres, the Right Reverend Patteson Worek.
Archbishop Dawea said Bishop Worek’s resignation will be effective from 31st July 2023.
He said the Bishop of the Diocese of Vanuatu and New Caledonia, the Right Reverend James Tama will be supervising the Diocese of Banks and Torres until a new bishop is elected and consecrated for the diocese.
“We will announce in due course the dates for the election and the consecration of a new bishop for the Diocese of Banks and Torres,” Archbishop Dawea said in a statement.
He urged all members of the Anglican Church of Melanesia to pray for Bishop Worek and his family as he enters into formal retirement from his episcopal ministry.
“I also further ask that we pray for the Diocese of Banks and Torres and the Anglican Church of Melanesia as we look forward to identifying a new person to hold the episcopal office of the Diocese of Banks and Torres,” Archbishop Dawea said.
