HUNDREDS of Mothers Union members of the Anglican Diocese of Guadalcanal are gathering at St John Divine Church in Longu Tina, East Guadalcanal for their fourth Mothers Union Conference.
A statement from the Diocese of Guadalcanal said the conference which will end on Saturday, started on Sunday 2nd October with a Holy Eucharistic Service led by the Bishop of the Diocese of Guadalcanal Right Reverend Benedict Loe.
The theme of the conference is “Transforming Oneself Physically and Spiritually to Live Our Faith in Christ”.
Bishop Loe, who is also the patron of the Diocese of Guadalcanal Mothers Union praised the members for their serious consideration and reflection in developing the theme.
He said this theme calls for change.
“The theme points us to a right direction, of where to start. If we want change, it has to start with the individual. If we want change it has to begin with ourselves.
“Transforming ‘oneself’ calls for individual change, which will eventually and expectantly impact the whole group, the district, parish, or the Diocesan Mothers Union and her executive.
“In choosing this theme, this conference is expected to implement some changes in order to forward the Diocesan Mothers Union into the next three years,” the Bishop said.
He added that change is about progression and not regression.
“I trust that the theme you have developed will be the compass to lead you through this 4th Diocesan MU Conference, and that it will help you to orchestrate the strategies of transformation or change that you longed to provoke by this theme,” Bishop Loe said.
The conference will end with the election of new Mothers Union executive members and office bearers for the Diocese of Guadalcanal.
