Futsal fans and supporters have voiced disappointment over the non-participation of the Solomon Islands National Futsal team, Kurukuru in this year’s Oceania Futsal Challenge.
The non-participation of the Solomon Islands national futsal team at the current Oceania Futsal Challenge has attracted more criticisms.
fans say it is a slap in the face for a country like Solomon Islands renowned for its best futsal performance to stay out of the competition.
“That’s really a bad for a futsal loving nation and two times representing the Oceania in the FIFA futsal World Cup
“This is not fair as futsal is the number one sport preferred by most youths around the country.
“If the Kurukuru is not prepared then use this tournament to get prepared for the qualifiers, we are the best in the pacific, we deserve to participate and win the tournament,” fans and supporters posted on the Solomon Islands soccer page on Facebook.
But according to the Solomon Islands Normalization committee the decision not to participate this year is because there were no proper facilities for the team to train with, no major futsal league organized in-country this year and the team itself is not well prepared.
SIFF revealed that since they were not able to send the Kurukuru team they have their focus is for the World Cup qualifiers next year.
