MINISTER of Home Affairs, Isikeli Junior Vave has emphasised the importance of diversifying the national economy into the agriculture, tourism and fisheries sectors.
The Member of Parliament for Shortland Islands Constitution underscored this important statement in his message to commemorate the country’s 46th independence anniversary last Monday.
“Let us enhance economic growth through the diversifying our economy to other sectors such as agriculture, tourism and fisheries by encouraging small and medium-term enterprises to become involved in these sectors,” he stated.
Minister Vave Jr further emphasized that the country must improve its gross domestic products.
Currently, log exports account for 70 percent of Solomon Islands exports.
“Enhancement of our financial stability through strengthening our entire financial system is essential for economic stability,” he said.
The theme for Independence Day’s celebration was “Charting our united and transformative future together.”
He said the theme reminded the country to deliver prompt and effective governance to the people of this nation.
