After a decade of separation, two of the Solomon Islands’ most iconic bands, DMP and Onetox, have reconciled and are set to make history with a New Year’s Eve performance like no other.
In a heartfelt announcement, the bands shared the joyous news of their reunion, marking a new chapter in their shared musical journey.
“After 10 years, we’re thrilled to announce a beautiful reconciliation that has brought us back together with another incredible band. Apologies were exchanged, bridges rebuilt, and now we’re ready to share the stage this New Year’s Eve,” the joint statement from DMP’s official Facebook page read.
“Join us as we make history with a performance of a lifetime – a true testament to the power of music to heal and unite!”
The announcement has ignited excitement across the nation, with fans eager to witness this historic collaboration. DMP and Onetox have both been pioneers of the Solomon Islands’ music scene, known for their soulful melodies and powerful messages that resonate with local and international audiences alike.
The reunion wasn’t just a return to the stage but also a profound moment of healing. Members from both bands acknowledged the challenges and misunderstandings that led to their separation but emphasized the importance of unity and forgiveness.

The disagreement and separation between these two well-known bands stemmed from management issues and royalty shares. Some members of DMP moved over to Onetox, leading to tension and prolonged fallout.
However, in a turn of events, both bands reconciled their differences with a traditional exchange of custom shell money, symbolizing peace and unity.
DMP currently boasts an impressive 81% increase in followers, with 37,000 playlists, connected listeners in 184 countries, and a total of 642,000 listeners with 5.76 million streams. Onetox, on the other hand, has 449,000 listeners and 3.79 million streams in 181 countries.
The New Year’s Eve concert promises to be a spectacular event, featuring both bands performing their biggest hits alongside the famous American reggae band Big Mountain, known for their iconic song “Baby I Love Your Way.”
The live performance will be held at the Heritage Park Hotel.
