THE Australian lady that returned to the country to trace her long lost father has opted for a DNA test.
This is to prove any biological relationship with her father’s relatives.
Margaret Simones has been in the country for few weeks in search for her father, a former seafarer by the name Thomas. That was the only name she knew from the two photos taken in the early fifties in Sydney.
Speaking to the Solomon Star, Margaret said she had to undergo a DNA test on Monday, in order for the flooding Thomas’ claims to prove the true identity of his father.
She said now people who have claims of his father can visit the hospital to have their DNA test before the samples could be sent to Australia for verification.
Margaret will return to Australia on Tuesday, but appealed to those who claim to be his father’s relatives to go for DNA testing.
She told this paper she realised that there were many Thomas’ from Solomon Islands who were seafarers back in the fifties.
Therefore she was confused by people keep coming forward with their stories.
She added a group from Isabel was currently with her, but were unable to visit the island, since she was told by the family that her dad’s grave was in Isabel.
She added that interesting clues are also coming from people of South Guadalcanal as well.
However, she believed DNA testing would clear her doubts.
