European Union (EU) Ambassador to Solomon Islands Leonidas Tezapsidis warns Solomon Islands not to rely much on foreign aid if they are seriously thinking of building and empowering the economy.
He stressed this during the recent launching of the 2016 Annual Report of Central Bank of Solomon Islands (CBSI) on Friday at the Heritage Park Hotel.
Tezapsidis said Solomon Islands must rely on its own resources to implement its development programs and that is the best way forward to building resilience.
“Donors participate heavily in the economy, which is not a good trend if we talk about building greater resilience.”
He added being dependent to donors is worrying and the country must look at ways to create job.
“Resilience is whatever we can do sustainable, but sustainable resilience is the way forward to build a nation.”
