HONIARA based Dovele community of North Vella La Vella, Western provinces celebrated Easter in style on Sunday as part of raising much needed funds to support a health centre in their area.
The one day event featured a number of games, race, fun games and sales of food.
Chairman of the program Conrad Rore said, the purpose of hosting the tournament is for all community members top bring their families together and celebrate the Easter while raising funds to support a community project.
“Since most of us live far from our community we decided to form a committee to ensure that we can maintain togetherness with our families living in Honiara.”
Mr Rore said, a sports competition coincided with a fundraising aimed at completing their community health center back in Dovele.
“The reason so organise such event is for all of us from Dovele to come together and contribute in helping the community development service back in our community.”
Its the first time for Dovele community to host such activities to support a community project.
Rore acknowledged all those who turned up and said urged to continue support such event when it is organised in the future.
