Female candidate for West Are’Are Dr Alice Aruhe’eta Pollard has officially launched her election campaign in Tawaimare community; ward five of the constituency over the weekend.
More than seven hundred people witnessed the launching.
The highlight of the event was a colorful parade from Houhui to Tawaimare community high school playing ground.
Following the parade community members and supporters enjoyed entertainments and feasting with words of acknowledgement from the elders, church leaders and chief of the communities.
Dr Alice said the purpose of the gathering was to officially declare her political campaign for West Are’Are constituency under the theme: “Leading the way, leading changes”.
It was aimed at bringing changes to women and people of West Are’Are to access better and quality development in the families, communities and the country as whole.
“Women and children need to access good and quality benefit in relations to whatever developments that is taking place in the families, communities and society.”
She added that before any means of development takes place it needs men, women, youths and children to work together.
Dr Alice is one of the female candidates who is contesting the 2014 national general election for West Are Are constituency.
Currently six candidates are confirmed contesting West Are’Are constituency.
The outgoing MP for the constituency is John Maneniaru.
