Former Director General of the Noumea-based Secretariat of the South Pacific Community Dr Jimmy Rodgers is the new Secretary to the Prime Minister.
He was seen accompanying the Prime Minister Rick Hou last Saturday night during the official opening of the Bred Bank Solomon Ltd.
Early this month the Ministry of Education and Human Resource Development (MHRD) hosted a dinner for him as their new Permanent Secretary.
He serves as the Permanent Secretary for the MEHRD for few weeks before moving to the Prime Minister office to take up position of SPM.
The position was left vacant after Dr Fred Isom Rohorua was appointed recently to chair the Public Service Commission (PSC).
Government sources when asked to confirm the appointment of Rodgers said “yes”, he is now the SPM, adding the government will update details later.
The MHRD is still without a permanent secretary after Dr Franco Rodie’s contract end early this year.
Currently John Bosamata is the acting PS.
The source said new change of PS will be confirmed soon.
It is highly likely that Dr Rodie is will be reappointed to the ministry.
