The newly appointed chairperson of the Public Service Commission (PSC) has been sworn in.
He is Dr. Frederick Isom Rohorua who has replaced Eliam Tangirongo, who has taken up another appointment as the Solomon Islands High Commissioner Designate to United Kingdom.
Dr. Rohorua’s has served under the Officer of the Prime Minister and Cabinet as the Secretary to the Prime Minister, where he worked under the leaderships of former Prime Minister Hon. Manasseh Sogavare and the current Prime Minister Hon. Rick Houenipwela before taking up his new role with the Public Service Commission.
On receiving his appointment, Dr. Rohorua stated that he is looking forward to improving the machinery of the Public Service to create a much conducive environment for a better and improved partnership between the Public and Private Sectors.
He further reiterated that he also wished to see the employment conditions of public servants improved as well as looking at further training opportunities for them.
Hail from Ulawa, Dr. Rohorua has had a broad experience working in education and managerial positions and has also undertaken training in related fields, both in-country and abroad, in countries such as Tonga, Fiji, New Zealand and Vanuatu from 1988 to 2007.
He has graduated with a Degree in the Doctor of Philosophy in Development Studies at the University of Waikato in April 2007.
