DRIVERS have been called upon to take extra care when using the roads during this wet weather.
Honiara resident Stanley Waura said, it is important to drive slowly along the high way traffic speed to avoid road accidents.
A Traffic Police officer yesterday also issued warning to motorists, adding that during such rainy weather, and with the deteriorating road conditions, drivers need to take extra precautionary measures whilst using the roads.
“It is common sense that during wet weather, drivers must drive slowly and that pedestrians must be careful.
“Most drivers tend to drive along the foot paths during such times, this must not occur as it can lead up to or cause unwanted traffic accidents.
“We must take extra care and think safety first before using our vehicles during rainy seasons,” he said.
The officer also called on the public to observe all traffic rules to avoid any problems whilst using the roads.
He said, drivers must limit their speed and think of others when travelling during rainy season.
