A male person has been taken in for questioning by Gizo Police, Western province after he allegedly assaulted an Asian shop manager.
The unfortunate incident occurred around lunch time today, Tuesday, at a shop opposite Gizo main market.
The youth who was believed to be under the influence of alcohol at the time of offence entered the shop where he allegedly removed a couple of stick lollies, one of the shop keepers told the paper.
He was spotted by one of the shop keepers.
When the shop manager approached the youth to ask him about the lollies, the suspect became angry and allegedly punched the victim on the face which landed on one of his eyes.
The drunkard youth then fled the scene.
Gizo Police was later alerted and the suspect was finally caught at one of the fuel depots.
The suspect cooperated when he was asked by police officers to escort him to a police vehicle.
He was then transported to Gizo Police for further dealing.
A member of the public who witnessed the commotion today, said, such behaviour should not be entertained in a town like Gizo.
He attributed alcohol as the main cause of such social issues.
Daily alcohol consumption in Gizo town is a daily occurance.
