A training to effectively manage projects and help communities engage in positive developments ended yesterday in Honiara.
It was a three weeks training organised by Development Services Exchange (DSE) for its partners.
The training focused on participatory leadership, project management, monitoring & evaluation management and financial management.
The training was supported and funded by European Union through DSE and was aimed at strengthening the work of community partners to have the opportunity to allow development in the community.
DSE training facilitator Lily Chekana said the training is to strengthen its partners in the community to work effectively on the opportunities that can help community in positive ways of development.
“This training plans to increase the members’ knowledge of managing projects and make evaluation on what is needed for their communities.”
She added this also to equip participants to have a good idea of leadership and financial management while improving administration and financial operation in the community.
The training is an ongoing program of, strengthening and improving community’s member through advocacy, collection and shearing information, capacity building and working towards equal and sustainable development, she explained.
A participant Tom Daoni said the training was very helpful as it has improved his knowledge how to manage the financial operation of community activities, how to manage project and do evaluation.
“The skills and knowledge I learn from the training is very new and I hope implement what I have learnt,” he said.
