PNG – SI delegation day
The theme for the celebration: ‘How wonderful it is when brothers dwell in Unity’ was neatly displayed in the Refectory, thanks to Fr. Louie Castañeda and his team.
The celebration began with a Thanksgiving Eucharist presided over by the new Delegate Superior, Fr Peter Baquero. It was the conclusion of the first batch of the annual retreat of confreres facilitated by Br Raymond Callo.
After breakfast the entire group left for 17 Mile, Sogeri Road, Central Province. Every house in the PNG-SI delegation was represented and the outing at Rocky Hills Park was an occasion to appreciate the blessings of nature and truly experience fun, camaraderie and brotherhood among each other.
It was a beautiful experience to see young and old, aspirants and veterans take part and enjoy themselves in the programme and games organized.
The moments of fun and laughter celebrating Salesian Joy were recalled as we partook of a delicious lunch organized by Fr. Roger Miranda and the DBTS community.
At the ‘Family Circle’ after supper that evening we had a variety of items and a short well acted play entitled ‘Youth for Life’ staged by the aspirants. It brought out hidden talents and gave us an insight into the potential of future salesians.
Personally, the day gave me the occasion to turn back the pages of my life – an aspirant admiring the salesians and now a Salesian in a vast movement called to serve the young. Yes indeed: ‘How wonderful it is when brothers dwell in unity’.
