IMPLEMENTATION of a Water Tank Project funded by Australia for Ward 19 in the East Are Are Constituency in Malaita Province is set to commence.
The materials for the project arrived on site last week, marking the start of the project implementation, bringing delight to the people of Ward 19 who waiting to benefit from this initiative.
The project funding falls under the Solomon Islands-Australia Community Partnerships programme, a small grants initiative designed to improve living standards by developing community infrastructure and health services.
The project is also supported by the Ward 19 Development Committee.
In a statement, the Malaita Provincial Assembly Member for Ward 19, Barnabas Amalamu said the project would support local clinics, schools and churches within the ward.
“As a representative of Ward 19 and alongside my Ward Development Committee, we are excited to see how this funding will benefit our communities.
“The resources provided will support students and staff of our schools, improve care for patients at local clinics and enhance healthcare services for those admitted to facilities in the area. Additionally, our churches will receive crucial support to assist their congregations,” he stated.
MPA Amalamu expressed sincere gratitude to the Australian Government through the Australian High Commission in Honiara for what he described as its ‘generous contribution.’
“This project is not just an investment in infrastructure, but also an investment into the well-being of every community member in Ward 19. The benefits will be felt by everyone, including visitors to our vibrant communities,” he added.
He expressed pride in the project’s progress and excitement for the positive changes it will bring to schools, clinics, churches and the wider community in Ward 19.
