The production of new E-Passports will resume this week after it was put on hold for a few weeks.
In a statement, the Ministry of Commerce, Industries, Labour & Immigration confirmed the arrival of the new E-Passport books.
This came after the e-passports had run out in the Immigration Department.
“New e-passport books have arrived.
“Our passport division will start printing passports by Wednesday,” the statement said.
It added that the ministry also apologized for any inconvenience caused by the lack of passport books over the passing weeks, but thanked people for their understanding.
A fortnight ago, Immigration Director, Mason Fugui said that the suspension of processing the e-passports was due to the delay of payments to the supplier.
The supplier was said to be ‘Iris Company’ based in Malaysia.
Fugui said the Ministry of Finance had released payments to the supplier in the second week of the New Year.
Meanwhile, during the halt period, applications that were received have been processed, but they have not issued any e-passport.
People are being advised that they can now collect their e-passports, once the printing is done.
