Malaita Eagles soccer fans in the Malaita provincial capital of Auki have thrown their support behind their provincial team who will be talking on the Isabel Frigates today in the first semi-finals.
The Eagles will take on the Isabel Frigates one of the top teams in the competition who finishes on top of their group above the heavyweights Honiara.
The Eagles who lost their opening match against the Real Kakamora in the pool stages bounced back with with two wins against Guadalcanal and Renbel respectively where they advanced through to the semi-finals behind group leaders the Real Kakamora.
Eagle’s supporters in Auki told this paper that they would want to see the Eagles advance to the finals and bring the cup back to Malaita.
With that, the die-hard fans are calling on the Eagles to keep the Eagles legacy as the powerhouse of soccer in the country and follow the footsteps of the past Eagles soccer teams who won the trophy for the province in a number of tournaments before.
Auki supporters are urging Malaitans in Honiara to throw their support today.
