Malaita Eagles expect their big guns to fire them home today in the Solomon Games soccer semi-final against the determining Isabel Frigates.
Speaking to this paper in an exclusive interview yesterday Eagles team manager Levi Filuala said they expect their front line to fire today with the backing of their rock solid defense to win the game for them.
“Our boys are confident ahead of the game tomorrow (today) and we expect our front line to score goals for us and with the strong backing from our defense we expect to win this game”Levi said.
He said after the Eagles went down to the Real Kakamora in their first game, the team has worked on the missing links which saw them come up victorious against Guadalcanal and Renbel Chiefs in their remaining pool matches which saw them qualify for the semi-finals today.
He said the Eagles management is expecting the Eagles to play their traditional style of foodball today when they take on the inform Isabel Fregates.
Eagle’s players to watch for today are; Junior Hou and John Kusilifu up front, Lynton and Clifton in the midfield and the back three Ashley Vika, Dick Benji and Moses.
With that he said unlike the other Eagle teams in the past that attracted more supporters, he said the current team has faced with supporting crisis after losing the first game agaist the Real Kakamora where he said the current team will prove themselves today.
He said now that they have set their house in order they will play the game of their lives today representing the Malaita people.
Isabel is a very strong team as proven so far and while they have lots of respect for their opponents he said the Eagles will give everything at them today for a place in finals.
Meanwhile Isabel Frigates on the other hand is a hard nut to crack as they prove themselves as the top contenders for the cup after they top their pool ahead of heavy favourates Honiara.
The two team will meet today afternoon at the Lawson Tama Stadium in Honiara.
In the other semi-finals today will feature Real Kakamora taking on Honiara for a place in the grand final.
