The Easter Soccer 7s competition will kick off today after it was postponed due to the heavy rain over the Easter weekend.
The competition is sponsored by the Member of Parliament for West Honiara constituency Honourable Namson Tran.
The West Honiara Constituency Development Officer (CDO) Brian Taupiri said the objective of the competition is to engage our youth during the Easter long weekend.
“We want to host this event to keep youths from getting involved in drugs and alcohol related activities and this we believe will help keep the crime rate at minimal,” he said.
The Namson Tran Easter7s Soccer Tournament will be a three days event.
Former national football players, Noel Berry and Rex Konofilia will coordinate the tournament.
Meanwhile prizes for the tournament are $5000 for the first prize, $3000 for second, $2000 for third and $1000 for the fourth prize.
