EIGHT people are in for today’s election of a speaker for Malaita.
At the close of nomination yesterday, provincial clerk Mathew Maefai confirmed eight people were nominated.
Most of them are former members of the assembly.
The candidates are; Joseph Au former provincial member for ward one Aoke-langalanga, Titus Fika former chief Education officer for the central region of malaita, Richard Watekari, former speaker, Everest Kairi Edger, JC Bill Williams Namoriu, Robert Wales Feratelia, David Oeta former premier some years ago and Billy Abae the caretaker speaker.
The clerk said announcement of the date for the election of a premier will be made after the election of a speaker today.
