THE heat is on. The hot topic is election.
In Auki, people are seen grouped at certain locations in the town area just to talk about the election.
The election date is yet to be declared and candidates are yet to be confirmed but people seem to already know candidates planning to vie in the election.
Indirect campaigning is also evident as people talked about candidates and supports promised to people for their ballot papers.
In some villages, supporters are already mobilizing to get support.
“Promising of payment for ID cards has been made,” one voter said.
The voter who wanted to remain unknown said he was asked to be paid $500 for his ID.
The electoral commission had already clarified that buying of ID cards is illegal.
The Governor General is expected to announce the National General Election date soon.
