Provincial election for Isabel province has been delayed for tomorrow from the scheduled set date that supposed to be held today.
The delay has been reported due to election materials are yet to be delivered by the chartered vessel which also be used to dispatch election officials around the island.
Presiding officer for the province, John Lokumana was not available to comment last night.
But Provincial Police Commander, Jeremiah Rofomana confirmed the reschedule date for Thursday (tomorrow).
He said the deferment of the provincial election date is due to the chartered vessel which supposed to deliver materials and dispatch election officials around the island are reportedly still in Honiara as of yesterday.
“MV Isabel has been said to be experiencing mechanical faults thus causes the rescheduling of the election date for the 11th,” he said.
However, reports from the provincial headquarters said that despite the delay of the charter vessel, some of the election officials have already been dispatched.
