Leading up to the registration next week, the Solomon Islands Electoral Commission (SIEC) has been conducting a number of training sessions preparing officers who will be carrying out the registration exercise for the important task that is ahead of them.
Information gathered from SIEC confirmed that by the end of this week, all registration officers should be deployed to their respective work stations.
According to SIEC, officers are being deployed through five routes; first route is from Honiara, Kirakira and Anuta, second route from Honiara, Afio, and Malaita Outer Islands, third route from Honiara to Tulagi, fourth route from Honiara, Buala, Gizo, Shortland, and Taro, and fifth route from Honiara to East Guadalcanal and South.
With that, eligible voters in all constituencies who are 18 years and over should register to participate in the National General Election (NGE) in May of 2024.
Those who are 17 years old during the time of registration and who will turn 18 just in time for the election in May are also encouraged to register.
