Premier Fini and delegation end Honiara engagement on a high note and will return to Auki today
PREMIER MARTIN FINI of the Malaita New Government for Fundamental Redirection (MNGFR) has ended his three-day engagement visit to Honiara on a high note, crediting coordination and mutual understanding for the success of the visit.
The 17-member delegation is due to leave for Auki today (Sunday).

“We are more than pleased with the outcome of our discussions based on Malaita is Ready to Engage belief. Engage is the international language of doing business today either in politics or in the private sector,” a spokesman for the Premier told Solomon Star yesterday.
The Malaita delegation first met the Ambassador of Japan, followed by a courtesy call on Prime Minister Manasseh Sogavare on Friday. This was followed by a meeting with the Ambassador of the Peoples’ Republic of China, Li Ming and Embassy staff.
“The pleasing thing about all these meetings is that the same language was used and spoken in each of the meetings. It is engage, engage and more engagement. The Malaita New Provincial government is so pleased that it has set the scene for more engagements to follow,” the spokesman said.
“Whether in law, economic development or harvesting of resources, Malaita is ready to engage with its intervention approach.”

Tar-sealing of the Auki region roads has been identified as a priority project under the MNGFR’s 11th hour programme. An assessment team is due to visit Auki next week to begin assessing the project.
“This is what we want to see and we are pleased that this will happen next week. It should have been done a long time ago, but unfortunately the then administration was using the language of the past to frustrate, rather than facilitate.”
The Malaita Provincial Government delegation was yesterday given a guided tour of the nation’s National Stadium. Delegation Members and Premier Fini return to Auki today.
The Malaita Provincial Assembly will begin debating the Province’s budget on Monday.
