Dear Editor,
As a concerned resident of Honiara, I urge city officials to prioritize the installation of traffic lights and, if feasible, surveillance cameras in the Central Business District (CBD).
The current lack of traffic management infrastructure poses significant risks to both public safety and efficient traffic flow.
Honiara’s bustling CBD witnesses a constant stream of vehicles and pedestrians, creating a chaotic environment prone to accidents and congestion. Installation of traffic lights would not only regulate traffic but also enhance pedestrian safety, ensuring smoother and safer movement for all.
Furthermore, the addition of surveillance cameras would provide valuable monitoring of traffic patterns and serve as a deterrent to reckless driving and criminal activity. By bolstering law enforcement efforts, we can create a safer environment for residents and visitors alike.
It’s time for Honiara to prioritize the wellbeing of its citizens by investing in essential infrastructure that promotes safety and order.
Let us work together to make our city a model of efficient traffic management and public safety.
Sincerely,
Nickson Auga
Honiara Resident
