FOUR days of Emergency Response Team (ERT) training is underway in Auki at the Auki lodge conference room.
It kicked off on Monday.
It is being organised by Solomon Islands Red Cross (SIRC) for both non government orgnisation (NGOs) and Malaita provincial head of divisions in working together as partners to response to any disaster that may strike.
According to Rex Leafasia – Auki Red Cross branch officer in Auki, the key factor of this training is to train key personnel to be able to undertake and manage any disaster in our local communities and the province as a whole.
“We are approaching cyclone seasons and we must be alert to response to any emergency call.”
He added that the training is also important that it will equip personnel in times of emergency.
More than 15 participants attended the workshop and it will end this Thursday with a field practical assessment.
