FORMER Member of Parliament (MP) for East Honiara Constituency who has retained his seat in parliament for the third time has thanked the people of East Honiara.
After a long tiring four days of counting, the Solomon Islands Democratic Party (SIDP) member Douglas Ete has claimed a total number of 5,710 voters, a landslide victory after the April 3 polls.
Following his victory he came out to publically thanked his voters.
“Thanks to all the people who stood with me from the start of our journey to this very moment, our third victory,” Member of Parliament (MP) for East Honiara expressed.
He revealed working together is very important to develop the constituency.
“We need to unite and to serve each other not to create dishonesty and unfairness practices among us fellow constituents.
“My lovely people of East Honiara, we have learned a lot of things during our providential worked in the past 8 years and now we should be identifying some of our weaknesses and strengths and work our way through to achieve the plans and goals we have,” Ete told his supporters after the announcement of his victory over the weekend.
A number of losing candidates for East Honiara came to congratulate Ete in his re-election.
