Former Member of Parliament (MP) for Central Guadalcanal Peter Shanel Angovaka says the ex-police officers claims should be for border security in the Western Province during the ethnic tension only.
He says this during his speech delivered at the Motion of Sine Die in parliament last month.
Angovaka says he did not know how other claims came about.
But what he discussed with the Minister of Finance during his time as the Minister for Police was to pay the officers that were serving at the border during the tension.
Anymore claims beside that should not be paid.
He said some ex-officers must be scrutinized to avoid double pay or raising payment for ghost names.
He said some of these officers are still in the police.
The Central Guadalcanal MP stressed that the payment for ex-officers must only for those serving at the border in the Western Province during the ethnic crisis.
“How other list for payment came is unknown and questionable,” he added.
Sunday Star understand that there are series of meetings held by some group of people before Christmas and recently, regarding the claims of ex-officers and some public officials.
