Fa’arodo appointed new technical and development officer
Solomon Islands international football player, Henry Fa’arodo Junior has been appointed as the Solomon Islands Football Federation (SFF) new football technical and development officer.
The announcement was made by the SIFF president, William Lai.
This position has been vacant for the past two years.
Lai thanked Fa’arodo for accepting the appointment and highlighted that this appointment is very important as it will also pave way for development grants from FIFA.
“Last two years SIFF tried to fill the post but unfortunately it did not work out.
“SIFF would like to thank Henry Fa’arodo Junior for talking up the post.
“This is the heart beat of football development.
“The technical officer post is a position that must be filled inorder for FIFA to release grants according to FIFA policy.
“Henry has been earmarked for the post since he has a lot of experience.
“I feel that Henry has the caliber to become good technical person because he is a well disciplined person and has the capacity of leadership.
“We need to give opportunity young energetic people just like we gave Moses Toata the appointment of becoming the head coach for the Solomon Islands national men’s football squad,” he said.
He added Henry has an important role and learning those important technical aspects and made assurance that SIFF will help to support Fa’arodo.
SIFF secretary general, Neil Poloso echoed the same sentiments highlighting the importance of the appointment.
“It’s a very important for move in development in Solomon to strengthen in administration and build capacity of federation.
“This is the technical department that drives football development in the country.”
Fa’arodo understands the challenge ahead but has confidence as there are people out there who will help him.
“Thank you SIFF for giving this big opportunity.
“It’s something I’ve been thinking about for the last one or two years.
“I’ve reached the crossroads of my career as well and since I played football for most of my life, I would like to continue and be part of this game as I get older.
“When I got this chance, it was a straight forward decision to accept the role.
“I know of the challenge but I know people out there who will support me.”
Fa’arodo said his first approach will be a youth set up program.
He said the development of football in Solomon Islands rely on the youth.
The appointment does not stop Fa’arodo from continuing to play football for the next two years.
However he mentioned that after the two years he is looking into more time in admin career in football.
