AUKI police will soon enjoy working in a new and comfortable environment after construction work on their newly built headquarters is complete.
The new building complex is located few meters away from the current station at Auki town.
Speaking to the Solomon Star Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Alfred Uiga said that the new complex is a facelift for Malaita province with the township.
He said that construction works is going on smoothly and expected to be completed early next month.
The complex is to house all police divisions in Malaita.
“That would include Correctional Service of Solomon Islands (CSSI), traffic division, community policing, training division, watch house, conference room, armory division and communication department (radio).
“The building is a timely gift for us and we are looking forward to its completion,” he said.
Uiga added that he was pleased with the new complex because his officers will soon work in a comfortable and good environment.
“Its appropriate at this time because the current one we are using is old and there is lack of space.
“We need a good environment for our officers to do their work and hope that new complex would provide that desired environment.
“All rooms will be fully air-conditioned,” he revealed.
Meanwhile, he urged officers to look after the complex because it’s a free gift to them.
He also called on Malaitans to comply with law and order and work closely with police to ensure law and order is maintained in the province of Malaita.
The PPC also acknowledged RAMSI for funding the project.
