A SHIPMENT of equipment for an SBD 2.5 million Japanese-funded micro hydropower project for the Ado Rural Farmer Association has arrived at the project site in Falake village in West Kwara’ae Constituency earlier this week.
The successful transportation of the equipment from the Auki Wharf to the project site highlighted the community’s commitment to implementing this important initiative.
Local support for the transportation was bolstered by Trades Transformation Company (TTC), which partnered with the community for this effort.
Chairman of the Ado Rural Farmers Association, Pius Itea confirmed that essential material for the Falake Hydropower Project have reached Malaita.
Mr Itea said the community is dedicated to supporting the project by ensuring the equipment was received and transported to its destination.
“The equipment that arrived is vital for the construction of the micro hydropower plant and power transmission facility for our community,” he added.
He expressed gratitude to TTC for their role in facilitating their transportation from Auki to the project site.
Mr Itea said this reinforces the strong relationship between the company and the community.
He thanked Aikema Shipping Services for safely delivering the equipment from Honiara to Auki.
This project, funded under Japan’s Grassroots and Human Security Project, is aimed at achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 7 (SDG 7) – ensuring access to affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy for all.
The Japanese government supports this goal through financial assistance to enable communities access vital energy resources.
