A local cattle farmer Frinton Vaka Rere who received seven herds of cattle yesterday from the first ever distribution in 15 years spoke highly of the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Department for the support.
Mr. Rere is among the first six farmers who receive the first distribution of the herds from Tenavatu Farm in Central Guadalcanal.
While thanking the Ministry, the excited farmer also acknowledged Ghaobata Thimbo Lathi GTL Farmer Association ,a local association which is currently working in partnership with the Solomon Islands government through Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock for making the distribution possible.
Mr. Rere said, he is working very hard to put the paddock in place and to witness the first arrival of cattle in his farm is a very big achievement for him and a dream come true.
He said, he will do to the best of his ability to breed the seven cattle so that they can multiply to satisfy the aim of the Ministry to revive the cattle industry in the country.
Mr Rere will receive a further 13 herds of cattle later as part o the program.
