AN angry father is questioning why police have not acted on a report of a petrol bombing incident, which occurred three weeks ago.
The petrol bombing inflicted burns to his son’s body that night at the Kukum area, when a masked gang alleged attacked the man’s son.
The father is threatening to take matters into his own hands if police continue to ignore his call for investigating the incident.
“This whole thing first took place at Kukum almost three months ago when a gang of masked men threatened my son with a gun and brush knife. We reported the matter to police as we know who was involved,” the angry father told Solomon Star yesterday.
“But we have been waiting since and it seems police have ignored our call for action. If police don’t act immediately, we are prepared to take matters into our own hands to avenge what this gang had done to my son. It is now three months since the incident occurred and subsequently reported to police.
“That night we reported the matter at the Central police station. We were there until very early the next day,” the man said.
The man said it was in the second ugly encounter, also at the Kukum area, that his son was petrol-bombed, inflicting burns to his left elbow and below his body. His son’s vehicle and that of a friend’s were also burned down.
“Not only did this gang, which is known to police, destroyed my son’s vehicle, they petrol-bombed my son inflicting wounds to his body. I am surprised that police have not done anything about this incident yet,” he said.
The man warned that if police do not act on this matter soon, he and relatives would take matters into their own hands.
“We are not cowards.
“The reason we have not taken matters into our own hands over this up to this time is because we have respect for the law. Our respect for the law should be recognized by law enforcement authority. It is a two-way street,” the man said.
