The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) officers in Tulagi, Central Islands Province, have remanded a father who allegedly raped his 19-year-old daughter at Big Ngella, recently.
Provincial Police Commander, Superintendent David Soakai, said it is alleged that prior to the rape incident, the suspect had attempted three times but failed.
Superintendent Soakai said on three occasions the father sexually relieved himself whilst forcing his daughter to watch.
According to PPC Soakai, the rape attempts occurred between November 2024 to October 2024 and in most attempts, the father used a knife to threaten the victim.
The horrific incident occurred earlier this month when the father waited for his daughter in front of her bedroom door. The father used a knife to threaten his daughter and committed rape.
After the incident, the victim sought refuge at her uncle’s home and later asked two of her elder brothers to accompany her to the Tulagi police station, where she formally reported the matter.
Superintendent Soakai said this kind of act is sickening especially when it is committed by a father who should love, respect and protect their children.
“I appeal to victims of such act to come forward and report it to the police. Such actions are condemned in our laws and our communities,” PPC Soakai added.
