THE court has found sufficient evidence against a father accused of raping his daughter in April this year in east Guadalcanal to stand trial in the High Court.
Principal Magistrate Edwin Saramo made his findings during the short form preliminary inquiry into the case of the 65-year-old father from Temotu.
Michael Holara of Public Solicitor’s Office, who represented the father, also conceded there is enough evidence to send his client to the High Court to stand trial.
The committal hearing involved the tendering of the documents relevant to the case by Public Prosecutor Olivia Ratu.
The father allegedly raped his 15-year-old daughter in a coconut plantation.
He cannot be named to protect the identity of his daughter.
