SOLOMON ISLANDS National team coach Felipe Vega-Arango said, he is eying the next friendly with an A – League team.
He hinted this, when speaking to the local media after the international friendly match with the Vanuatu National side at Lawson Tama, last Friday.
“We are trying to get a friendly against a team from Australia.
“And, I really want to have that one, because that’s going to be the level that we will find against New Zealand – a professional level.
“..we will play differently, unlike today (Friday), because they are professionals, they are fitter, they press hard.
“So I hope that friendly happens,” Coach Felipe said.
He added, the team will be undergoing intense training this week while waiting for the friendly in few weeks’ time.
“In a few weeks’ time if we are lucky, we will play against an A-League side.
“We really need it, and I hope it happens. They (SIFF) are trying to make it happen right now,” the Spaniard said.
Star Sports understands that previous national teams have had series of friendly matches with clubs in Australia in the past.
During those years, the results were a mixture of wins, losses, and draws.
If the friendly is set, the Lawson Tama Stadium is expected to be flooded again as the players and fans are hoping for a win.
