NADI, (FIJI SUN) – The Fijian Pearls depart today to play the Silver Ferns in Wellington, New Zealand on Thursday.
The 2015 Pacific Games gold medalist returned home on Monday night with the Team Fiji contingent.
Melbourne-based Jane Costello and Unaisi Raulini will join the team for the week-long outing in New Zealand.
“We are really pleased and it is fantastic to be involved with the winning team,” coach Kate Carpenter said.
“We will turn around and focus for the match against Silver Ferns.
“We had some tough matches playing the Silver Ferns in January is going to boost the team’s preparation for the Netball World Cup (NWC).
“The physio and doctor support and the recovery session were good during the week in Port Moresby,” she said.
The Fijian Pearls defeated hosts Papua New Guinea 68-51 to win gold medal at Port Moresby.
The side depart today and will face the Central Under-23 team before playing the Silver Ferns on Thursday.
Carpenter said they would work hard in order to achieve a better position at the NWC in Sydney, Australia from August 7 – 16.
