RNZI: A Fiji man has been refused bail in a court appearance after being charged in relation to what police say is the biggest heroin drug bust in the country’s history.
30 kilograms of heroin were found hidden inside bicycle tyres on Sunday, following a joint operation between the Fiji police and the Revenue and Customs Authority.
The haul, worth about $25 million US dollars, was seized by police at Lautoka wharf.
Mohammed Shaheed Khan appeared yesterday in the Lautoka Magistrates Court and was denied bail.
The matter has now been transferred to the Fiji High Court.
