FIJI TV – From Attorney General to the country’s money man.
Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum now assumes the new role as Fiji’s Finance Minister as well as Minister for Public Enterprise, PSC, Trade and Tourism.
He says one of his first order of business is to prepare the national budget for 2015.
Of course the Fiji First Government will build its budget around its already existing policies and what has been stated in the manifesto,” he said.
“The manifesto actually sets the guidelines for what the budget will have. You can make something into an adversarial kind of atmosphere or you can be focussed,” he said of the budgeting process now ahead of him as one of his immediate priorities.
“I know a lot of people may be talking about there’s going to be something adversarial. The whole aspect at the end of the day is what we can do as a Parliament for Fiji and Fijians,” says Fiji’s newest Finance, Public Enterprise, PSC, Trade and Tourism Minister.
