Fiji Times: The Fiji Invitational netball side defeated the visiting Singapore team 65-43 during their friendly match on Monday night at the FMF Gymnasium.
The friendly game was organised to assist Singapore’s build-up to the Netball World Cup in Australia next year.
The visitors will play a series of matches in order to qualify.
Fiji, laced with its national reps such as Taraima Mitchel, Maria Lutua, TemumuMoce, VaitiWaqatabu and RaijeliDaveua settled well during the four quarters.
And despite playing with Fiji Pearls skipper and defender Matila Waqanidrola, the Invitational side provided the much needed competition that Singapore needed prior to its qualifying games.
“It was a good game by our girls and also Singapore,” team manager Sera Vakaloloma said.
“This friendly game was only organised to help Singapore as it build up to its qualifying game for the world cup.
“We’re excited to give them that needed competition to help them gauge their performance and combination.”
Fiji has already qualified for the NWC which will be held on August 7-16 in Sydney.
