The much awaited inspection on one of the country’s newly completed airport Lomlom on Reef Islands, Temotu province is scheduled for tomorrow.
Officials from the Civil Aviation Authority of the ministry of communication and aviation, Temotu provincial government and the media traveled to Lomlom this morning at 6am and will return the this evening after the airport inspection.
Confirming the final inspection to the Solomon Star on Sunday, director of aviation George Satu said the final inspection of the airport had been now set down for today.
The inspection was supposed to take place on Monday but a group has hired the chopper the team intends to use which resulted in the delay.
Mr Satu apologised to the Reef Islanders for the delay in inspection work due to a number of work commitment overseas.
“I know most people in Temotu most especially those in Lomlom would not be happy not be happy with the several cancellation and delay of the inspection of lomlom.
“But I wish to apologise to you all. Due to a lot of official commitments overseas my team and I were unable to travel over over the past weeks.”
If approved, then Solomon Airlines would start operating into the airport any time soon.
Mr Satu also appeals to the Reef islanders to look after the airport and maintain in for their own good.
