The Microfinance Expansion Project through the Centre for Excellence in Financial Inclusion is participating in the national Financial Inclusion Exposition from the 16th -20th July 2014 in Kokopo, East New Britain Province.
The event is organised by the Bank of Papua New Guinea with its theme “Save now to make your dreams come true” with support from various Financial Institutions in PNG.
The Expo is expected to attract the participation of most formal financial institutions in PNG to showcase and demonstrate their products and services to the general public.
The Microfinance Expansion Project and Centre for Excellence in Financial Inclusion will have a stall to educate the public on the financial Inclusion activities, achievements, impact and the future plans. The stall will have a special counter for women leaders to discuss partnerships and register for future activities with the gender specialist of the project.
The Microfinance Expansion Project will deliver trainings on two modules of the six financial literacy-training modules. The six modules include; Savings, Budgeting, Debt Management, Bank Services, Financial Negotiation and Mobile Money.
The two modules to be featured at the EXPO are “Savings and Budgeting. This training is open and free to any individual in East New Britain province and all welcome to attend. It will be carried out from the 16th -17th July 2014 at Gazzal International Hotel.
The Microfinance Project and Centre for Excellence In financial Inclusion will provide certificates for 21 successful participants from East New Britain Savings and Loan Society and Kada Poraman Microfinance Limited who attended the microfinance training conducted by the Institute of Banking and Business Management-IBBM at the EXPO concluding ceremony on 19th July.
The Microfinance Expansion Project is designed to expand horizons of the Financial Inclusion in PNG through multi-pronged interventions to strengthen the inclusive finance sector in the country.
The project was launched in April 2012 and is co-financed by Asian Development Bank, the Governments of Papua New Guinea and Australia, with BPNG as the Executing Agency and MicroSave as technical partner.
The Centre for Excellence in Financial Inclusion was established as part of the project’s outputs and is the main body for coordinating financial inclusion strategy of PNG.
