Government through the Ministry of Finance and Treasury is expected to provide a formal statement about the nation’s current financial status sometimes this week.
Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Finance and Treasury Harry Kuma in an email sent to this paper said they are done with the statement and await the Minister Snyder Rini to sign-off for publication.
“As soon as the Minister have a look through and gives the green light, we will release it to the public,” Mr Kuma said.
He added that the lack of a communication officer in their ministry also poses a challenge for dissemination of information in a timely manner.
Reports of current budget cuts by government ministries in the past week, unpaid government rental bills and partial payment of students’ allowances studying overseas forced citizens to ask the ministry to update the country.
Meanwhile the Parliamentary Opposition Group last week also called on the Minister of Finance & Treasury Snyder Rini to tell the truth about the current financial situation of the country.
