THE Malaita New Government for Fundamental Redirection (MNGFR) has established a technical team within the Malaita Economic Development Initiatives (MEDI).
This team is an addition to the Cabinet Sub-Committees of the Democratic Coalition Government for Advancement (DCGA) of Prime Minister, Manasseh Sogavare.
This was announced by the Malaita Premier, Martin Fini, on the floor of the Malaita Provincial Assembly on Wednesday this week.
The establishment of Malaita Economic Development Initiatives and technical team is part of MNGRF’s Redirection Policy Strategic Intervention Three (3) to establish development authority to oversee the implementation of existing national projects and create new development initiatives.
“I am pleased to announce that we have established a technical team within the MEDI Cabinet Sub-Committee of the DCGA. The technical team will be the brain thrust to assist my Malaita New Government for Fundamental Redirection (MNGFR) in conformity with DCGA policy.
“My new government (MNGFR) will work with the MEDI Technical Team to negotiate and discharge current existing and confirmed Malaita Projects in the National Development Plan with DCGA to deliver those projects within the 11th hour.
“I am pleased to announce again that at this very moment, as I speak, a Technical Team within the MEDI is currently finalising the Fundamental Redirection policy of my new government. We are aiming to officially launch this within two weeks,” Premier Fini said
Premier Fini said MEDI will be the engine room to filter development projects for Malaita.
He added that it will be staffed with high-caliber individuals and experts.
“One of MEDI’s main tasks is to work with the National Government in facilitating development initiatives for and on Malaita,” he added.
