Prime Minister (PM) Jeremiah Manele has congratulated the Ambassador of Finland to Solomon Islands, His Excellency (H.E) Arto Haapea after presenting his credentials.
H.E Haapea paid a courtesy visit to Prime Minister Manele the same day he presented his credentials to the Governor General of Solomon Islands, His Excellency Reverend David Tipa Kapu.
“Congratulations on your new appointment as Ambassador of Finland to Solomon Islands. This meeting symbolizes the strong and growing relationship between Finland and the Solomon Islands,” said PM Manele.
The Prime Minister conveyed to H.E Haapea Solomon Islands’ appreciation of Finland’s commitment to sustainable development, environmental protection, and good governance in the region.
His Excellency Haapea emphasized potential partnerships in sustainable forestry and fisheries, reflecting Finland’s expertise in environmental management.
PM Manele and H.E Haapea discussed challenges and potential areas of cooperation including climate change and economic development, believing the collaboration is increasingly vital.
Discussions also covered areas both countries can strengthen ties and explore new opportunities for cooperation.
Finland has supported initiatives aimed at enhancing governance, education, and health in the Solomon Islands mostly through Multi-lateral platforms such as the European Union and Pacific Islands Forum Secretariat.
