Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) fire fighters yesterday came under scrutiny from the public when they failed to put off a fire that razed a two-storey building in Chinatown.
Members of the public said it’s obvious the Fire Service is incapable of handling big fires.
One eye-witness said slow reaction, lack of capability and the late arrival of the fire fighters left the building burnt to the ground.
“They could have saved part of the building if they are capable and well equipped,” he said.
“There is clearly no proper coordination between fire stations and officers,” another observer said.
Eye-witnessed say had the fire started in a building in the middle of Chinatown, the whole shopping district would have now been gone.
