Coach remains confident for a comeback
The Solomon Islands National Beach Soccer team, Bilikiki put on a brave challenge against the reigning Oceania Champions Tahiti going down 3-10 on day two of the OFC Beach Soccer Nations Cup 2023 in Papeete, Tahiti.
Bilikiki Head Coach Gideon Omokirio despite the defeat said it was the level of competitiveness expected from the Tahitian side and by the quality displayed the two nations will likely meet in this weekend’s final decider for a winner to represent Oceania at the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup in Dubai next year
“We wanted to see how Tahiti plays. That’s the level of competitiveness and challenge we wanted,” Omokirio said after the match.
With the intensity and quality displayed the Bilikiki coach is optimistic a rematch will prove the best in the region – by improving the team’s accuracy and executing chances on goal.
“Yes. We look forward very much to playing Tahiti again.
“We will certainly raise the intensity of how we play and we will be making a different approach head-on,” says Omokirio.
Bilikiki will take on Tonga in match day 3 today.
