FOR the first time a female has been elected to lead the Solomon Islands National University Student Association (SINUSA).
This follows a successful election being held on Monday.
Ms Farlaii Floyd created history for the student’s body, when she was voted into the once male dominated position.
She was the only female contesting with other five male candidates for the association’s top job.
It’s understood that in the past, female students were only voted in to positions such as vice president, secretary, and treasurer’s position.
Besides that, the current treasurer and secretary’s posts have been won by two females also.
They are Ms Josephine Teku as Treasurer, and Ms Jennifer Lufuota as the new secretary.
The new vice president elect is Mr James Watepo.
Most students have also welcomed the new executive, and are hoping to see what they have talked about during their campaign come into fruition.
According to the University’s Administration and Management team, they are hoping to work closely with the winning Student Executive Reps.
