It is happening this Thursday, football fans and supporters are in for entertaining football action on Thursday with the friendly match between the Solomon Islands national men’s football squad and the Papua New Guinea (PNG) national football team.
This match is set to kick off at 3pm at the Lawson Tama Stadium.
This will be the first of two friendly matches between the two teams.
The next match will take place on Sunday March 27.
This is the first international friendly match Solomon Islands has engaged in since the Nations Cup in 2012.
Any positive outcome in the results will surely be good for our FIFA world ranking.
Solomon Islands has hit its lowest ranking ever in history in the recently released FIFA ranking and has slid three places down the Oceania ranking as well.
Whilst ranking plays an important part in the friendly matches so as their respective preparations for the upcoming Nations Cup serves as the first stage of the Oceania World Cup Qualifiers.
Meanwhile four Solomon Islands international players are reported that they will team up with the national side for the friendly matches.
Fred Kini, Nelson Sale and James Naka who are currently feaurting for Vanuatu’s Amicale FC are expected to arrive on Wednesday a day before the friendly match.
New Zealand based Micah Lea’alafa is also expected to arrive in the country on tomorrow.
